Backcountry Collision Repair
Evanston auto body shop with 5.0 stars, also fixing RVs, trailers, semis, and paint, offering pickup and delivery.

The three shops
Stones RV and Trailer Repair carries the most reviews of the group at 25, holds a 4.8 rating, and handles fridges alongside roof and awning work. It also keeps parts and can take weekend jobs, handy when something quits on a Sunday. Backcountry Collision Repair sits at a perfect 5.0 from a small batch of 5 reviews, with fridge work plus body and chassis experience. WELLING AUTO DEPOT POWERSPORTS & RV has 26 reviews at 3.8 and does warranty and parts. Call ahead and ask whether the cooling unit or the control board is the likely culprit. That answer decides whether the part is on a shelf or on order.
Mobile techs and shop visits
None of the three Evanston shops listed here is a mobile outfit, so plan on hauling the rig in rather than having a tech come to your campsite. That is not a small thing if your slide-out is out or the fridge sits in a rig that is hard to move. Before you book, describe the symptoms: warm box with a working freezer points one direction, no cooling at all points another. Ask how long a diagnosis takes and whether they charge for it. A shop that keeps parts on hand can often turn the job around faster than one that orders in.
Warranty and timing
One of the three shops, WELLING AUTO DEPOT POWERSPORTS & RV, lists warranty work. If your refrigerator is under an extended plan or a manufacturer warranty, get pre-approval from the plan before anyone touches the unit, or you may end up paying out of pocket and chasing a reimbursement. Spring and early summer fill service bays quickly around here, so book before the first warm weekend rather than after. While the rig is in, have them look at the roof and awning too, since all three shops handle those as well.
