Where the shops are
The four Mentone shops cluster along the Mentone Boulevard corridor, close enough that you can drop a rig in the morning and still make an afternoon errand in Redlands. Three of them handle roof work, three handle A/C, one does awnings and one is mobile. That last point matters if your slide-out is jammed open in a driveway and the rig cannot move. Call first before you tow anything in. Ratings here run from 4.5 stars down to a 3.3, and two of the four have no reviews posted at all. A shop without a review history is not automatically a bad bet, but ask what kind of work they did last week before you hand over the keys.
Roof leaks get priority
Three of the four shops list roof repair, which tells you something about the local sun and the occasional monsoon push up the slope. Most leaks show up at seams, around vents and where the ladder is screwed on. Chasing a leak with more sealant over old sealant is a short-term fix at best; a shop should clean back to good material before it reseals. RV SERVICE DEPARTMENT on the list covers roof, A/C and awning together, which helps when water damage has spread from the roof into the ceiling and the awning fabric is shot. Ask them to check the ceiling inside before they quote the outside.
A/C and collision work
American RV & Auto, LLC. carries the strongest rating here at 4.5 stars across 37 reviews, handles A/C and chassis and body work, and is open weekends. That weekend availability is worth a lot when your A/C dies on a Saturday in August and the trip is not over. Clear coat Auto body and Collision and RV Paint Department both list body and roof work. RV Paint Department also runs a mobile option plus parts. Summer is peak season for A/C service, so call ahead and ask whether the parts are on the shelf or on order before you commit to a drop-off date.
