RV Solar Installation in San Diego, CA
Solar on an RV in San Diego is a sensible upgrade, but the install has to be done right. I have seen panels mounted with self-tapping screws that leaked at the first rain. The six solar shops here average 4.7 stars, and three of them are mobile techs who come to your rig. If you want the work done at your storage spot, that is the way to go.

Shop or mobile?
Three of the six solar shops in San Diego are mobile techs, which matters if your RV is in storage or you are boondocking nearby. Mobile work is convenient, but ask where they will mount the charge controller and how they will run the cables. A shop with a bay can take more time for a clean install. Sprinter Van Solutions and RV Specialist both offer mobile service, and RV Specialist also handles warranty work. If you are booking in spring, call ahead. Solar installs take longer than a quick repair, and the good shops fill up.
What the ratings say
Sprinter Van Solutions has a perfect 5.0 rating from 116 reviews, and they list solar among many other services. RV and Marine Solar also has a 5.0 from 34 reviews and focuses on solar and electrical. 7 Seas Vans is smaller with 14 reviews, but a 5.0 is still a 5.0. LuisRvsd Mobile RV Repair sits at 4.4 from 44 reviews, and RV Specialist has a 4.3 from 141 reviews. Truck Camper Garage has no rating yet, so that is a wildcard. Use the review counts as a guide, not a guarantee.
Parts and timing
Before you commit, ask if the panels, controller, and wiring are in stock. Some shops order parts per job, which can add a week. If you are replacing an old system, find out if they will reuse existing mounts or start fresh. A roof leak after a solar install is common when old sealant is not cleaned off first. San Diego has plenty of sun, so a well-planned system pays off, but a rushed job can cost you a roof repair later.
